The first pedal bike I bought my son was a 16" version of a Haro freestyle bike. Although the build quality of the bike was good, but it was heavy and essentially a scaled down version of a full size bike. As such the ergos were awkward for my little guy and the bike weighed nearly as much as he did. We tried multiple times to get him going and he was never comfortable enough and eventually he got so frustrated he told me he would never ride a pedal bike and he was going to ride his balance bike forever. After this I got into research mode and after a couple weeks of reading reviews and comparing specs I landed on the Zulu 2. Once it arrived the assembly was minimal and I put my apprehensive grom on the bike to adjust seat, bars and levers. After that I gave him a little push down the street and he has had a ear to grin for the past month. Living in the PNW we have access to great trails and the bike has held up great. Its light enough for my 4yo to pick it up over logs and the hydraulic disc brakes have all the stopping power needed on the downhills. For us it was a game changer! So happy companies like Prevelo are making legitimate mountain bikes specifically for kids.
